Exhibition: AIR- Artist in Residency (Stoke 20)
It is the act of travel that allows you to see new and refreshing cultures, that you see the uniqueness of others, that be their good or bad elements, without judgment, just those that contrast with yours will make you realize what is really yours. --Margaret Shiu
“AIR” is the abbreviation of “ Artist in Residency”, which has become a trend for artists to go abroad and find a suitable place to long stay or become a unexpected wanderer. The purpose of residency is to encounter different cultures, and all sorts of exotic experiences. There are more than 400 artist villages around the world, and they provide very good opportunities and criteria to receive artists around the world. It’s such a pity that not many artists in Taiwan know that such great opportunities are happening all over the world.
The founder and director of the Bamboo Curtain Studio, Margaret Shiu, discovered her true professional calling in arts while she was in residency. If you want to give it a try but don’t know where to start, we encourage you to visit the exhibition—AIR, the journey of Artists’ mind.
