Litmus was established in this area, where serval Asian immigrant communities are concentrated, to creative and exchange culture, by developing and operating various programs, respecting each others differences, and creating a space where people of various nationalities and ethnicities can meet using culture as a medium.

The utopia objective of Litmus is the creation of this type of community, which is open but standardized. Therefore it can be called a ‘community of life’, that participated in the process of formation as well as destruction.

PROGRAM AND ACTIVITIES

-Residency
The international residency program focused on the local characteristics of Ansan, where Asian immigrant workers are concentrated, and it proposes site-specific creative activities, and hope to provide an opportunity where the artists can intervene and propose their ideas about Asian issues. The program also wished to make possible the close exchange and
communication between Asian artists, and for this to result in culture and art exchange.

-Project
The project team of Litmus was formed to organize and run projects to intervene and communicate in an artistic way regarding various social issues. Beside our own projects, we will also continue to look for various ways to collaborate with other local art cultural institutions and groups.

-Exhibition
The exhibition program of Litmus strives for experimentation to find new possibilities in visual art by connecting artists’ imaginations with the various social phenomena of the era, letting them collide as well as interchange. We wish to expend the use of our community space to also include foreign artists, so that Litmus undertakes it’s role as a place where international exchanges of artists and cultures actively take place.

-Studies and Publishing
The academy and publishing enterprises consists of the following: Independently promoting academic activities and publishing publication that are in conjunction with the main purpose and basic ideas of Litmus. Academically and theoretically supporting various  Litmus activities such as exhibitions, academics, international residencies, developing of multi-cultural education enterprises. Undertaking the planning and making of publications that are published by Litmus.

-Festival and Party
By collaborating with various immigrant groups, we wish to develop a new multi-culture festival model. And based on this, we wish to arrange a Wongok-dong festival where everyone is joined together by overcoming radical and cultural differences.
