Hidemi Tokutake
Hidemi Tokutake is a Japanese ceramic artist. She started her ceramic journey at Seto Ceramic School in Japan. Tokutake then traveled to Australia for five years and obtained her Masters in ceramic at The National Art School in 2014. The delicate and brittle sensation of her ceramics were inspired by the fragility and strength of the Australian landscape. Her works aim to embody the birth of nature, the wonder of seeds emerging from pods, the continuum of life, which can be likened to a woman giving birth to a child. These sculptures creates a visual resemblance to a woman’s reproductive organs; however, they also aim to uncover the beauty, the curiosity and the unity between both plant and human.
