Chiu Chih Hua

Graduated from Department of New Media Art, Taipei National University. Now lives and works in Taipei, Taiwan.

Chiu’s works mostly focusing on the research of the images, which contain static or dynamic, real or virtual images. His previous works capture the urban perspective through a single channel video shooting, inspired by documentary photography. In 2007, Chiu was admitted to the New Media Department of Fine Arts, Master school at Taipei University of the Arts, and devoted his passion in image creation. He then gradually shifts the image from real scenery to model set-up. In 2012, Chiu did a short art exchange in Czech Republic, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan. In 2013, Chiu hosted his first solo exhibition in “FreeS Art”, exhibiting works during the art-exchange in Czech. Moreover, Chiu was then invited by Czech UKG art organization for a touring exhibition in Czech, Germany, Austria and Slovakia.Chiu is selected as BCS 2015 Creative Talents. In his project, he invites sound artists and dancers to Bamboo Curtain Studio to perform a new types of image. He hopes to open up a different sides of inner self and his city project that tries to discover a new combination between audiovisual and dance performance.

After the “International Artist Exchange Program” between Bamboo Curtain Studio and TIFA working studios in 2015, recommended by Bamboo Curtain Studio, Chiu, Chih-hua has been elected to be the residency artist in “Artel 2016” hold by TIFA Working Studios, and will stay in Pune, India for 4 weeks from 14th March. During his residency, Chiu plans to take Indian employees as film subject.  He will observe the staffs in Shalimar Hotel, put their daily actions into the scene of the Hotel and studio, and edit it to be a dancing video. Chiu expects to let ordinary people present more possibilities by collecting their daily actions in this project. Simultaneously he will search and record the “local sound” to be one of the basic elements of this video.
