Born in 1978 in the USA, Adam Avikainen has traveled extensively and showed his work worldwide. This year, he has been invited by the 2012 Taipei Biennale. To prepare his work, he will be staying at Bamboo Curtain Studio, Taiwan.

In 2012, Adam Avikainen and Maria Taniguchi exhibited at ARTSPACE, in Auckland, New Zealand. He invented a psycho form called “Ginger Glacier”. In this upcoming work for the Taipei Biennale, he will be making a painting from the soil and flora surrounding Bamboo Curtain Studio. The painting will act as a guidebook for the viewer to take control of their future psycho forms.

From 2007-2008, Adam had a residency in the Center for Contemporary Art, Kitakyushu, Japan. During the residency, he had two solo exhibitions “AIJOUBU” and “AKI AKARI”.
