Bamboo Curtain Studio New Artist Program

The works of Alecia Neo are full of humanity concerns and cultural tolerance.  She investigates the normal people's experience of being isolated, departing from the society, and self-growth process of being loneliness, confusion, desire and personal pursuing. Her works "Home Visits" gained the highest recognition in Berenice Abbott Prize in 2009.  This work was also selected for the Second Singapore International Film Festival, 2010. The portrait photography is Alecia's expertise.  She joined the team of New York photographer John Clang in 2011 and initiated new photography projects.

While residency in Bamboo Curtain Studio, Alecia will focus on the theme of "Open the Creative World of Visually Impaired".  She collaborates with the Eden Foundation and pays special attention to the visually impaired. She will lead them to find the visual images in the memory, perhaps cameras and video cameras can be their windows to dialogue with the world.
