In academic research and artistic and activist practice, and drawing from Digital Humanities and Sound Studies approaches, she examines epistemologies of historical memory and counter-narratives in postwar and contemporary Japan, its state-enforced historical taboos and amnesia, and how these affect the contemporary in its various constellations, with particular focus on the relations with its neighbors in Asia-Pacific.
