The Van Eyck is pleased to announce an exchange programme between the Jac. P. Thijsse Lab, the Van Eyck’s lab for Nature Research, and Bamboo Curtain Studio, an Artist-in-Residence space in Taipei, Taiwan. Bamboo Curtain Studio (BCS), a former chicken farm alongside the Tamsui river, has been active as a residency programme for artists and curators since 1995 and operates at the intersection of art and ecology.
From September to December 2017 the Jac. P. Thijsse Lab hosted Tze-Ning Hong from BCS, who assisted Yasmine Ostendorf in the Thijsse Lab and conducted interviews with Van Eyck participants and staff on art class memories and new forms of art education. The end of her stay was marked with a showcase of the outcomes of her research in Hae on the 1st of December.
In return the Thijsse Lab selected Van Eyck participants ‘De Onkruidenier’ to enjoy a 3 month residency in Taipei in the autumn of 2018, where Jonmar van Vlijmen and Ronald Boer will continue their artistic research on plants.
