Face Battle Field
In Kuniaski Peninsula, there is a traditional ceremony called Syujouonie (修正⿁会), which is held in every first month of the lunar year praying for blessing. During the ceremony, the monk would wear the Onimen mask which represents all the fear of people, and turn into Oni. The Oni brings blessings to the participants by interacting with them which can be seen as people facing their own fear.

Inspired by the Syujouonie, Peter Hsieh held four mask workshops during his residency. In each workshop, a group of three people started with sharing his or her own fear and then created one storytelling mask together. On the day of Face Battle Field, all the participants from the four workshops were invited to fight with their own masks. Fighters from each group fought in pairs for the final victory, solely with the masks carrying the fear and hope of the group members. The mask
workshops gave each group the freedom to express their own imagination of face, while the Face Battle Field gave the champion to the one who broke the most masks made during the workshop, and the intimacy to all participants by breaking all the invisible masks worn in the daily life.
