A story with only one single voice is usually dangerous, especially with those successful ones during the pandemic. Some voices may be silent or ignored, like migrant workers, nightclub owners and cultural workers. In the new piece by Fantasy Theatre “ Unilateral Lockdown”, Chihyu Lin showed us how they used theatre to create a debate and present the real voices from five different sectors, the mainstream and the marginalised.

Theatre, being a physical structure of woven dreams, fulfills wishes with variously mas- ked fantasies, so that people stay awake making dreams, giving up numbing sleep…Freud claims that the concept of “fantasy” is closely connected to the forming of dreams. The Greek root of the word “fantasy” means “light.” It has the implication of “reflecting oneself.” Since Freud, the concept of fantasy has been linked to desire. Desire and fantasy and fulfillment of wishes are the initiatives of everyone’s creative behavior.
